Weekly story time, song, and conversational practice for the whole family on Saturdays 11:30-12:30 ET.
Kalimah's play-based STEAM Arabic programs integrate culture, science, history, arts, social studies, and more, but no religion.
We combine Fus7a (Modern Standard Arabic MSA) and dialect (mostly Shami) in a relaxed, collaborative, welcoming environment. No language prerequisite: all are welcome and will be accommodated based on their starting levels.
Synchronous times are via secured Zoom meetings and mostly in small groups of 3-5 kids/teacher.
Each child gets a one-year school subscription to 3asafeer.com where some of the Arabic learning takes place via assigned, themed e-books and videos, interactive worksheets, standard-based assessments, and much more.

Frequently Asked Questions
What platform will the virtual classroom be on?
The platform is Google Suite: the digital materials and resources will be made available to subscribers to access any time. There will also be weekly meetings on Zoom on most Saturdays: 11:30-12:30 to do live story, songs, conversations, and games related to the montly theme.
What ages is this ideal for?
The program is for whole families, so all ages are welcome. The content, just like you see on the second page of the virtual classroom, will be coded by recommended age/level. So there will be something for each person in the family.
When can students access the material?
Resources will be made available to subscribers to access any time.
What are sight words and why focus on them?
Sight words "are used so often it is important that readers be able to recognize these words on sight (hence the term “sight words”). When a reader masters sight words she is able to understand at least half of the words in a particular text. By eliminating the need to decode these words, the reader is able to focus on those that are more difficult and less familiar. Beyond this, sight words offer important clues about the meaning of a sentence." - https://www.k12reader.com/what-are-sight-words/
Which Arabic version/dialect do you use in your instruction and communication?
We combine Fus7a (Modern Standard Arabic-MSA) and dialect (mostly Shami) in a relaxed, collaborative, welcoming environment.
What if our child has no background knowledge or previous instruction in Arabic?
Our programs do not require any language prerequisite: all are welcome and will be accommodated based on their starting levels.
Is there a set curriculum or reading material?
In addition to Kalimah's STEM-based, integrated (culture, history, arts, social studies, and more, but no religion) multimedia interactive content, each child participant gets a one-year school subscription to 3asafeer.com where some of the Arabic learning takes place via trackable, assigned, themed e-books and videos, interactive worksheets, standard-based assessments, and more.
Please note that what we offer is not a stand-alone curriculum to teach Arabic reading/writing. It is rather a fun, interactive, game-based, self-paced learning adventure for the whole family that emphasizes Arabic sight words as the missing link between the phase of letter identification/pronunciation and reading fluency with enriched comprehension and valuable connections to relevant topics and everyday language!
