Dear Parents, We hope this message finds you all well and in good spirits despite the extended quarantine affecting us all. We were hoping for a chance things would change and we'd still be able to have our camps in-person. Unfortunately, we just heard back yesterday that it doesn't seem likely, as the county's phase 2 re-opening plans don't seem to include indoor camps. Therefore, we have to go virtual. The silver lining is that we’re going to have participants and camp guides from all over the world! We have started planning fun virtual camps that will keep kids interested in learning history and STEM content as they use the language. We’re still working out all the details and are looking into the possibility of partnering with Brain Chase (https://brainchase.com/introducing-brain-chase/) to customize their treasure hunt & escape room online camp platforms to help our campers stay actively involved and keep track of their work. We still don’t have a lot of details, but generally speaking, there will be group zoom meetings 1-2 times a day to check in and check out as well as guided and independent personal and group work in between. Campers will have themed projects to work on and complete then present in weekly showcase parties. One-on-one meetings with Arabic teachers are twice a week with some assigned fun work to do with family and friends daily. Tentatively, the hours of meetings, synchronous work and expected online availability for campers and camp guides will be 11am-3pm (to accomodate participants in different time zones).
The tuition will decrease slightly, so if you’ve paid the full tuition already, you’ll be getting a partial refund once all the details are sorted out and the final cost is determined.
We hope this works for most, if not all, of you! Let us know if you have any questions, suggestions, etc.
Thanks and have a good weekend!
Layali on behalf of the Kalimah Team
